South Florida Jewish community has a better choice: JOE KAUFMAN FOR CONGRESS"

IsraPost Endorses Joe Kaufman for American CongressJoe Kaufman is not a new name in Florida. Joe, writer and researcher, has been involved in the counter terrorism field for more than ten years.  Joe’s articles can be found in FrontPage Magazine, the Hudson Institute, Pajamas Media and National Review.

Less than a year ago, knowing the threat to our national security was increasing, the economy was getting worse and believing that he would be able to make a difference, Joe became a candidate for United States Congress,  looking to unseat Debbie Wasserman Schultz in Florida’s 23rd District in the November election.

For the past 18 years, Kaufman has been involved in the Broward Republican Party and he co-founded the Republican Jewish Coalition in Florida. More...

In 2006, Kaufman helped found and became spokesman for the Terror-Free Oil Initiative (TFOI), stressing energy independence for the United States. He stated that, because of our dependence on foreign oil – specifically oil coming from the Middle East – we are financing our own demise. In 2007, TFOI created the world’s first Terror-Free Oil gas station in Omaha, Nebraska.

Kaufman has been a junior lobbyist for AIPAC and has served as a committeeman for the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and was the English editor of the Israel Post. Additionally, he has been involved in the Broward County Special Olympics and was the creator and editor of the organization’s newsletter, Champions.

In 1987, Friends for Israel, an organization dedicated to spread the right of Israel to exist, commissioned a painting honoring David Ben Gurion and Israel’s Declaration of Independence. Friends for Israel traveled around the world obtaining signatures for the painting. The signatories included U.S. presidents Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Prime Ministers Benjamin Netanyahu, Ariel Sharon, Shimon Peres, Yitzhak Rabin and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher among over 100 other global dignitaries. Kaufman was named a special envoy to Friends for Israel, an appropriate choice considering his background in counter terrorism and a strong lifelong support for Israel. Kaufman was tasked in obtaining new signatories for Friends for Israel 25th Anniversary Reconfirmation project. When Kaufman was asked about his role as special envoy, he said, “It is a great honor to serve as envoy and even a greater honor to be a signatory.

In February 2012, Kaufman got his Congressional opponent, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, to cancel her keynote address in front of a radical Muslim group, Emerge, at the group’s annual fundraising dinner. In a scathing report Kaufman exposed her participation in raising money for the group and exposed the fact that the group’s leaders actively spread bigotry and support terrorism.

Lately, Kaufman is crusading for moving the American Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in accordance with the Jerusalem Embassy Relocation Act, requiring that the US move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem by May 1999. In order to placate Israel’s and America’s enemies abroad, President Bill Clinton signed a national security waiver of the act in June 1999. This injustice has since been replicated by each succeeding president since the waiver was originally signed. Kaufman says, ”It is time for America to take a stand for our friend Israel and against our common enemies. It is time to tell the world that there is only one owner of Jerusalem and that is Israel.” The petition can be viewed and signed at this website: www.moveembassytojerusalem.com

Kaufman’s wife Emily grew up in the Jewish community in Lima, Peru and, at a young age, moved to Israel, and lived in Jerusalem, Netanya and Tel Aviv for more than eight years, where she nearly fell victim to Palestinian suicide attacks. Today, she teaches Hebrew and Spanish in a Synagogue in Broward County and a religious Jewish school in Miami-Dade County, and she is a teacher for Birthright.

Regarding fixing the economy, and helping our community, Joe recommends a few simple things that the United States can implement.

Reduce the National Debt to show the ratings agencies that the U.S. is serious about fiscal responsibility and restore our AAA ratings.

2.Pass a Balanced Budget Amendment to ensure deficit spending will never happen again.
Congress should establish a new federal tax system to include a national flat tax, a consumption tax, and a significantly reduced corporate tax.

4.Eliminate the capital gains tax to spur investment.

5Significantly reduce over regulation that is impeding economic growth.

6.Finally,  Congress should repeal the Affordable Care Act because it is neither affordable nor caring.

“The implementation of these common sense solutions will revitalize the American economy, create jobs and save America from economic collapse. A prosperous America is imperative if we are going to aid and protect our allies, such as Israel. For this and other reasons, it is important to support Joe Kaufman in his bid for US Congress. The election will be held on August 14, 2012.”
