In praise of Congressman and soon-to-be Vice President Paul Ryan
Reminder: Last day of early voting
Waking up Saturday morning to the announcement of Paul Ryan as Mitt Romney’s Vice Presidential pick was enormous. One of America’s true heroes and courageous individuals, Paul Ryan is now going to join hands with Governor Romney to lead America towards a reaffirmation of its founding principles that made America great.
In debate after debate, I have trumpeted Paul Ryan and his plan to save Medicare and Social Security and restore fiscal responsibility in America. At times, I have had to defend Ryan against the attacks of Karen Harrington, my opponent in the Republican race to unseat Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
Harrington, as recent as a week ago, joined forces with Debbie Wasserman Schultz to criticize the Ryan plan as going too far and compared the Ryan plan to ObamaCare. No doubt this is a blistering split from the GOP which unanimously supports the Ryan plan, but it also is an insult to the Republican principle of taking daring positions aimed at saving America and has the potential to do harm to the presidential ticket. It’s no wonder that Karen has never won a debate and was beaten by me in every poll during this Primary.
Referred to as the 'third rail of politics,' Ryan has led the crusade to speak candidly about the impending bankruptcy of the Social Security system, Medicare and Medicaid and the overall threat of spending on the economic growth and stability of the U.S. He is committed to saving these programs, rather than mislead the American public into a sense of false security. That’s why he has been elected to the House seven times and serves as the youngest Chairman of the Budget Committee in U.S. history. Ryan has the courage to solve the problems of America with honesty and integrity verses pandering. I congratulate him in his new role and wish him luck. America needs him.
This is a call to action. Get out and vote. Today, Saturday, is the last day of early voting, and Tuesday is Primary Day. We must all put America First!
