America needs a new Reagan. The first Presidency I am able to remember is the Carter Presidency. I remember the hostage crisis in Iran. I remember waiting in line with my mom two hours for gas. And I remember clipping coupons with my grandparents, because the food prices had risen so dramatically. Today is not unlike the Carter years. We have a crisis with Iran – this time a nuclear one. Gasoline prices are going through the roof. And food prices are at an all time high. Once again, I find myself clipping coupons. During the 70s, uncertain foreign policy coupled with a poor economy took a tremendous toll on the morale of our nation. In 1980, a man named Ronald Wilson Reagan came to power and, what seemed to be overnight, turned the country around. The hostages came home, the economy took off, and people suddenly felt good about our nation once again. Today, morale is even worse than it was under Carter. The failed policies of Obama, Pelosi and Wasserman Schultz have brought our country to her knees. Leadership like President Reagan offered is needed now more than ever. I fear that we will not be able to survive a continuation of the alternative.
